David Marin was born February 10, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan, with Grand Rapids, Michigan his hometown. Marin graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1964 and volunteered to join the U.S. Marine Corps the same year. He reported for basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California on July 15, 1964, with follow-on basic electronics training in San Diego. His other training included Electronic Teletype Repair in San Diego, KW-7 Crypto Repair in Portsmouth, Virginia and the NCO Leadership School at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
Marin earned the Rifle Marksman Badge. David deployed overseas for the Vietnam War February 1966-January 1968 at DaNang and Chu Lai, Republic of Vietnam. Sergeant Marin was discharged on July 15, 1968. He had been awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service in the United States Armed Forces.
David graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. He currently serves as a Veteran Career Advisor, Veteran Employment Specialist in the Grand Rapids area with the Veterans Employment Services, Talent Investment Agency, Talent and Economic Development Department of Michigan. Marin assists veterans in starting a career, changing careers or upward mobility in their present career. In addition to employment and job training, Marin provides veterans with resume and placement support, vocational guidance, referral to Michigan Works workshops and job fairs, with an emphasis on green career fields, as he develops and strengthens their employability skills.
David has been married to his wife, Elizabeth for 49 years, with children Laurel and Ryan and five grandchildren.
