Erin Gianopoulos served as a logistics officer in the US Marine Corps, retiring from the Reserve Forces as a Major in 2018. She served across the United States, overseas in Africa, Iraq, and Japan, and deployed aboard ship in the South China Sea leading Marines and sailors in both training and in combat. She earned her BA in History from the University of Michigan in 1998, her JD from Wayne State University Law School in 2021, and her MA in American Legal History from Wayne State University in 2022. Erin serves on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Detroit where she leads veteran service initiatives. She also serves on the Board of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan in the Wayne region, and on the Wayne Law Board of Visitors. She lives in Detroit with her husband, a retired Marine Corps infantry officer, and their two boys. She works as an attorney for the state of Michigan.
